At Hacienda Pinilla you'll have no trouble discovering the mysteries of nature's attractions. Rivers, lakes, beaches and wildlife refuges surround the residential development on a property which in itself is an extensive dry tropical forest, home to a wide variety of birds, insects, amphibeans, reptiles and mammals ranging from toucans and butterflies to frogs, turtles, iguanas and monkeys - all of which can be seen right there along 16 kilometers of picturesque nature trails. In its continuing awareness of the importance of natural forest habitats for animals - as well as residents and visitors - Hacienda Pinilla has implemented over the past few years an aggressive reforestation program resulting in the planting of thousands of tree species native to the region. A handsome stable of horses can be found within the Hacienda, right next to the beach. You can tour the beach on horseback or ride along rivers and pastures, enjoying first-hand the imposing natural landscape of Hacienda Pinilla. Sixteen kilometers of scenic nature trails are just waiting to be explored. And right on the coast we have one of the best surfing spots in the world, as well as great deep-sea fishing. There's also easy access to the natural wonders of many Costa Rican wildlife refuges and national parks. Perhaps the most attractive part, however, is how much you'll be able to enjoy the country's amazing biodiversity of flora and fauna in unparalleled serenity and seclusion. |

Spread over 4,500 acres along the north pacific coast of Costa Rica, Hacienda Pinilla is located in the most exotic setting, a rolling coastal landscape which has served as a cattle ranch for more than 40 years, giving the resort it's unique "Ranch-like" ambiance. This rustically elegant property offers the visitor three miles of pristine beaches with delightful seascapes. A tropical dry forest offers a diversity of habitats with natural trails, and a one-of-a-kind masterpiece golf course designed by the famous golf architect, Mike Young. This beautiful championship golf course is ecologically-friendly and has been certified by The Audubon Society, because of it's gentle layout surrounded by ancient and majestic native trees such as the "Metapalo", "Pochote" and "Guanacaste", that provide the habitat for a myriad of colorful species of birds, iguanas, monkeys and deer, among others. This magnificent golf course is one of the few course in the world facing the sea and to have "Tif Eagle Turf" on the greens, rewarding golfers here with a most enjoyable round of exciting golf. Each hole was designed to conform to the slopes and contours of natural landscape. This 7,500-yard, par 72 masterpiece is the creation of Mike Young, who is creator of some of the finest courses in the southern United States. At Hacienda Pinilla, you'll see a shining example of Young's passion for the game, respect for tradition, concern for the environment, and a sharp eye for detail. The different risk/reward situations offer different challenges in every round. The challenges vary at the beginning of each hole, where six sets of tees help make the course infinitely playable, whether a beginner or a low handicapper. It doesn't take long to realize that Hacienda Pinilla is a very special place. That's why we have worked very hard to create a golf experience that harmoniously co-exists with the natural environment. While we haven't sacrificed any pleasures or challenges for you, every effort has been made to keep human impact on the land to a minimum. So we'd appreciate it if you would treat the course and its rustic surroundings with the same respect. Designing Hacienda Pinilla was a unique privilege for me. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed creating it. - Mike Young, Course Architect |
