TAMARlNDO BEACH: This is an extraordinary place for surfing with world class waves. When a big swell hits you can find nice waves at all breaks.
Most spots are best at incoming middle to high tide.
Tamarindo has 5 different breaks. We've provided you with a short description of each.
1- Estero langosta:
Intermediate to advanced surfers.
Left and right breaks; some rocks.
Outside reef break at low incoming tide.
2- Capitan suizo:
Breaks good with a southwest swell.
Beginner to intermediate surfers.
Fun long board spot when the swell is right.
Some exposed rocks at low tide.
3- Henry's point: (in front of zully mar)
Intermediate to advanced surfers.
Rocks; left and right breaks.
4- Pico pequeño:
Beginner to intermediate surfers.
Lots of kids surf here.
Sandy bottom; right and left breaks.
Pico grande:
Outside of pico pequeño; mostly a right off of the rock.
Intermediate to advanced surfers.
5- Estero tamarindo:
Intermediate to advanced surfers.
Sandy bottom; left breaks with a few right breaks.
PLAYA GRANDE: A non stop playground for any level surfer with both left and right breaks. Because of the sandy bottom the waves are ever changing. You can walk up and down the beach and find many places to surf. The waves here can be big and agressive in some areas. You are likely to catch a nice tube in one of your surf sessions.
1- La casita: (just on the other side of the estero tamarindo)
For beginner & intermediate surfers.
No reefs.
2- Playa grande hotel:
Intermediate to advanced surfers.
No reefs.
Left and right breaks.
PLAYA AVELLANAS: Is a very long beach with many spots for surfing.
Beginner to advanced surfers
A few reefs
Right and left breaks
PLAYA NEGRA: This is a black sand beach.
Famous for it's perfect right break.
Intermediate to advanced surfers.
Lots of rocks.
